BLM Published Proposed San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area (SPRNCA) RMP and Final EIS
On Friday, April 26, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Tucson Field Office published the proposed San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area (SPRNCA) Resource Management Plan (RMP) and Final Environmental Impact Statement (E
IS). The public has 30 days to review it and file an objection. You can learn more about it here: https://eplanning.blm.gov/epl-front-office/eplanning/planAndProjectSite.do?methodName=dispatchToPatternPage¤tPageId=48114#
The SPRNCA is many things to many people. Many see it as a unique opportunity to protect a wide variety of sensitive species. Others see it as a fantastic collection of mining history from the late 1800s. Others see it's recreational potential while still others see it as an economic opportunity.
Regardless, not everyone will agree with the BLM's preferred alternative. Hopefully, once the decision is final there will be an opportunity to move forward and implement many of the proposed decisions in the RMP.
